item is great but case is horrible The item itself is very nice. Got this for my 13 year old son for boy scout camping trips & he loves it. The case it comes with though stinks. The blade for the hatchet sticks out but is not apparent until you touch it….not a great safety feature. Otherwise am happy with the gadget.

Nifty Camping Tool I love this tool! It comes in handy for everything when camping. It is solidly built and will last a long time. After sharpening it, it cuts very well – both knife and axe. It is long enough that the axe/hammer can be swung to be effective. Of course, you won’t be chopping any large logs with the axe but it sure is fun to use for smaller projects. I comes with a fabric case that keeps it tucked away neat. The blade of the axe is on the edge of the case, uncovered, so be careful not to let the kiddies fish it out of your bag if it is sharp! I l’ve used the file, bottle opener, different knife blades, and screwdrivers. The only down side I can think of is that of course – the hammer has some weight to it. It is as heavy as any small finishing hammer head so it probably wouldn’t be the best choice if you are going on long hikes/ back pack trips. Works great for me to carry in my day pack to use around the campsite, on day hikes, to mess with around the camp fire, and on the 4-wheeler…
