About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener’s mother, and “inox,” or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The forerunner of that name dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor or versatility.

A perfect camping knife! This is the perfect camping knife! I’ve had a Victorinox Champion for 30 years and it’s the most helpful tool I have ever owned. The Champion is better for day hikes due to the smaller size, but this one is better for real camping. If I am going very deep in the wilderness for days, I will carry a K-Bar tanto knife, but I will still carry this in my pocket or backpack.
A nice every day carry knife, with some extra tools; excellent value for the price The One-Hand Trekker is a very nice knife and multipurpose tool. Itâs not as awesome as the top-of-the-line every day carry (EDC) knives like the Benchmade Griptilian, but on the other than, the Trekker is much less expensive and includes lot of other tools. I have a number of other Swiss Army/Victorinox multitools, and theyâre all relatively fragile and gimmicky. This one is well built. I purchased it from Amazon in 2006, and carry it often.
Best EDC knife for me!!! This is my new EDC knife. Simple with great tools to use everyday for my needs. This knife is not made in China. Victorinox stamped on the blade. I choose this knife over many Gerber and Leatherman options for the price. For me, this knife was great out of the box. You can order the German army edition if you don’t like black one that comes in army green and you can order a non serrated blade if you’d like.
