I tested it with tap water from my kitchen and used a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter to see how much solids were in the water after filtering. My tap water has a TDS reading of 491. Worked as advertised, but I would not recommend this to someone. I used this water bottle in Peru. Next time, I will spend more money and get a better one.Pros: It did clean and purify the water as advertised. Water tasted fine. Carry strap was convenient. It will do the job.Cons: You have to squeeze the bottle as you drink and if you squeeze too hard the lid pops off. If you tip the bottle while drinking it leaks. I live in Portland, OR where we are 72 years overdue for a Cascade subduction zone megaquake (based on the 246 year average time between quakes).
