We wanted to love these, but… These Sawyer Minis came highly recommended by several sources, so we ordered the two pack for my twins to take backpacking. They are extremely lightweight and seemed solid, so we were excited to use them on our five day trip. The very first time the boys filled up the plastic pouches to squeeze through the filter, they BOTH sprung leaks, necessitating the abrupt abandonment of their trip due to lack of ability to filter water. Such a good option for backpackers These filters are great and will be ridiculously long-lasting (100,000 gallon lifetime!). I’m impressed with the versatility of this system, with all of the included accessories. I chose to use the squeeze bottle for all of my filtering, and this thing saved me having to use nasty iodine pills or carry several gallons of fresh water on a kayaking/camping trip. THESE WORK! Last year we moved from a house on city water to a house with a well. When we get heavy rain (we live in a rainy area of Oregon), our well water gets a little cloudy.
