Perfect for everything from camping with the kids to traveling abroad where tap and bottle water can’t be trusted, the tiny MINI provides 0. 1 micron absolute filtration for clean drinking water on the go — filtering out bacteria, protozoa, and micro plastics. The MINI filter removes 7 log (99. 99999%) of all bacteria (like salmonella) as well as other harmful bacteria which causes cholera and E. coli and 6 log (99. 9999%) of all protozoa such as giardia and cryptosporidium. These removal rates equal or exceed other filter options. EPA guidelines allow ten times more protozoa left in the water than Sawyer MINI filters allow. The MINI also filters out 100% of micro plastics. Great for outdoor recreation, hiking, camping, scouting, domestic and international travel, and emergency prepping, the Sawyer MINI gives you a number of ways to access clean water. Attach it to the included drinking pouch, use the included straw to drink directly from your water source, connect it to hydration pack tubing (sold separately), or screw it onto standard disposable bottles (28mm thread). The size of these straws is much more compact than the Life Straw, and this filter has the longest life by far due to it’s ability to be backwashed using the included syringe. Filters Work Great / Fill Bag Is Poorly Designed I had used these filters before to great success. I purchased four for our recent trip to Isle Royale where potable water is limited. As the title state, the filters work great. They do a good job of filtering out impurities and making the water clear. However, the first time I used the fill bags, they all ruptured with severe leaks. Luckily, I had brought along one of the fill bags from the previous time I purchased them (about two years ago). Great filters! These are great and compact! I love the multicolored pack so I can keep them organized and give each family member their own if I want to. The only thing about these is the cleaning syringe; it doesn’t seal against the nozzle of the filter super well. It works, but you will be spilling water all over the place. The syringe itself has threading on the end, like it was designed for a needle or something to be attached. But the filters don’t thread on; you just hold them firmly against the syringe…
