Short Life Span of Filter Ordered the entire system to take with me on a cyclo-camping trip from Washington D.C. to Pittsburgh, PA. The water along our route was treated with iodine and the water was from pump wells that had some rust sediment in it. I have to say that this filter cleaned the water to crystal clear and it did remove the taste of the iodine from the water. However, the filter clogged up after filtering approximately 10 gallons of water. I did the appropriate amount of backflushes to clean the filter, but…

Great filter, everybody is jealous. I bought this to make my own filter system. I already own two Platypus bladders and made one a dirty bag and one a clean bag. The tubing that comes with the bladder is the right size for the nipples on this filter, they fit very snug and will not come loose. I also bought this Platypus Quick-Disconnect Kit set of quick connectors for the Platypus bladders that I own, this is really what makes the system so awesome. Perfect for lightweight traveling, saving $$ on bottled water. All parts to a custom traveling system listed I parced out a gravity fed kit versus purchase an entire one because I did something slightly different with it.
