Backpakers dream water filter I just got back from hiking in the back country of Alaska. We hiked the 33 mile Chilkoot Trail. This worked well for us and others who seemed to have misplaced their water treatment systems. We were on the trail 5 days and used it every single day more than one time. Also we never used the bottle (Nalgene) type cover since one can simply just put the hose into the…

funny taste first 2 gallons Seems awesome in every way but the first 2 gallons have a chlorine taste that is overwhelming. 06/10/18 Still looking for a solution or reason for this . This chlorine taste went away on the 3rd gallon and I love the filter. 06/14/18. After a 2 week excursion I went back to the owners manual and read the long term storage instructions: “Treat system with a solution of 2 drops of bleach and one liter of tap water.”That would explain how my experience is consistent with…

Faster Water Filtration This thing is awesome. I was going to buy one of those straw style filters, but was laughing at the guys drinking out of their cups next to the stream while I quickly filled 2 2liter water bladders and headed back to camp. You can save some money and buy this one that doesn’t have a clean water bag and just hook it up to your drinking container. Warning: This adapts with the CamelBack bladders and Nalgene bottles, but not with the Osprey bladders.
