A replacement changed my opinion This is a renewed review from my original opinion.I tried the Original flavor and praised the flavor , but remarked that I did not like the texture describing it as “near gelantinous”.The company spokesperson and self described ‘cattle herder” contacted me in less than a day.She offered a refund or replacement.She asked for the batch numbers on the bag received so an investigation could be done , saying that she suspected the rare occurence of a bad batch.Within 3 days , I received a complimentary bag , tried it and changed my mind immediately.I understand all the high rated reviews , now.This jerky is wonderful , nice chewy texture and great flavor .Besides giving the product a 5 stars rating , the company policy of customer relations gets a 6 stars rating .I am resuming my order to subscribe and save for a monthly shipment.
1-oz not great I was disappointed with these 1oz bags. Before making this purchase, I had bought this jerky at a local store and loved the flavor and texture. I havent seen it in stores again so I thought to order these on Amazon to take to work for lunch. I had previously only bought bigger sized bags which I think is the way to go. These 1oz bags didnt have significant jerky pieces, it was like they took just shreds or crumbs and stuck them in here. I didnt find it very satisfying. While the flavor continues to be excellent, the pieces were so tiny they didnt feel like you were getting much for a product that is not inexpensive.
Perky Jerky “Original” OMG, I love this stuff. I’m not a fan of jerky but I am in the process of modifying my carb loaded diet to a more protein based plan and jerky is a recommended snack, and the Perky Jerky is the brand I was pointed to. The jerky is tender, yet still chewy. Just the perfect amount of chewy. The pieces are smaller than traditional jerky, and some reviews presented that as a downside, but I like the size pieces in the package. For the flavor, I purchased the “Original” since I’m not into all the flavors. It is delicious. It starts with a very slightly sweet taste, common to most jerky, with a bit of black pepper topping it off. As you chew, the pepper flavor increases and there is mild latent heat to the flavor which lasts for a minute or two after you swallow. Only down side is the price, but jerky just isn’t a cheap food. So relatively then, I guess the price is ok.
