It pumps easily with a 4:1 mechanical advantage, producing 1L per minute and can easily be cleaned in the field without tools to restore flow rates. Great pump, reliable filtration though a little slow. I’ve used this filter on a couple of different backpacking trips. Usually 3 or 4 night trips in national parks where streams are plentiful and relatively clean.

I have nothing but great things to say about it Having just used this for a week long trek in the high Sierra Mountains, I have nothing but great things to say about it. It’s easy to use, lightweight, compact, and its included Nalgene bottle adapter helped to simplify filling in awkward places, and the sanitary cover helped keep it clean. We had many water sources, and one in particular in Dusy Basin to the naked eye was as crystal clear as the rest, but continuously the internal filter would clog up from it (the hose filter was clear) which…

trouble getting it to prime I hate writing this review because I really want to like the filter. I have used my buddy’s PUR Hiker filter several times in the past and I have an in- bottle. I bought this filter to use on a 5 day canoe camping trip with my family. I thoroughly read the directions prior to using the filter. I tested the filer at home in the sink and it appeared to work fine. The first time I attempted to use the filter in the lake, I could not get it to prime, so I removed the MSR Siltstopper and…
