The Morakniv Companion MG is an all-in-one knife for outdoor enthusiasts with a patterned, high-friction grip that makes it comfortable to hold and easy to handle. The Companion MG features a 4.1-inch (104 mm) blade of 1095 carbon steel that reaches a hardness of HRC 58-60. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and can be easily re-sharpened when needed. The Companion MG will perform well during high impact usage such as creating tinder or cutting wood. When used in wet applications, the blade should be dried after use to avoid blade corrosion and may exhibit a patina or natural discoloration over time through normal usage. You should also clean and oil your blade regularly especially after it comes in contact with acidic foods like oranges. Includes a military green sheath with belt clip. Overall length: 8.6 inch (218 mm); Blade length: 4.1 inches (104 mm); Blade thickness: 0.08 inch (2.0 mm); Weight w/ sheath: 3.9 oz. (110 g). Limited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Excellent Knife at a Great Price I cant believe that some people are complaining about this knife rusting, its carbon steel it will rust if you do not take care of it which basically just means oiling it once in a while. I figured that was common knowledge but that is apparently not the case (there is a stainless one too if you are going to be around water a lot). For the price there really isn’t anything anyone should complain about, unless it comes broken or bent. For 15 bucks I would be hard pressed to find a knife of this…

One of the trinity of deep woods living. Mora it is pretty much the ultimate secondary blade for outdoors. This one is carbon steel so it’s supposed to stain or get a patina the trade off is a good long lasting edge. You want Stainless if you don’t use it that way it’s all pretty after being stored. Now go buy a ferrosteel rod and cut a bicycle tube to make a rubber band to keep em together. My primary blade for the hack and felling wood is the Condor Kukri …

I’ve not only used this, but seen it used by tons of wilderness therapy staff and we’ve abused this knife thoroughly. The knife is lightweight and 3/4 tang which is enough for most any application from smashing the back with rocks/sticks to chop wood, down to the basic cutting of food. The only time I saw one break was when it was being used incorrectly to the extreme. It was wedged about a foot deep into some thick wet wood…
