The best mantles you can buy! I have used these mantles exclusively for about a decade. I own the Coleman Powerhouse Dual Fuel Lantern and have always put these simple mantles in it to fill my camping needs. I have bought other brands in the past and they don’t seem to get the amount of burn time these Coleman ones do. I seem to average about 4 nights on one mantle before it deteriorates to the point where I can’t use them any longer. I always keep extra ones on hand for the unexpected. Works as advertised. Just wish Coleman made these things less fragile. These work well in a gas lantern. Unfortunately, after the initial burn off, they are extremely fragile.Basically, a synthetic coating leaves an ash skeleton, which can work for years if completely undisturbed, but will break apart the instant anything touches it or jars the lantern.I read somewhere that Peerless Lantern Mantles are more resilient, but might have more harmful components in them. General purpose mantles that disappoint Good general purpose mantle that I use when setting up and rebuilding Coleman Lanterns, very pricey from Amazon but can’t always find the mantles in brick and mortar stores.Update: Downgraded my rating based upon the durability vs price. Coleman mantles seem to have declined in durability. These typically last one burn before falling apart and half of the mantles get holes during the burn in.
