Overall this is a great, SOG camp axe that deserves 5 stars Overall this is a great, SOG camp axe that deserves 5 stars. My rating is based on the sheath that SOG supplies with the axe. The sheath is little more than a molded covering for the blade with a rubber strap to hold it to the handle. The axe is very sharp and attaching the sheath is neither quick or easy. I urge anyone using the sheath to be very careful as it’s very easy to cut yourself trying to attach it. I contacted SOG by email on their site and asked if they made a safer, belt sheath…
After using everyday on a five day backpacking trip. Very solid product only had to complaints:1. Needed to be retightened2. Wish it was a tad bit bigger borderline too small. If you wanted weekend warrior something to play around with this is great!If you want to use this for actual expeditions in the real world and use for days on end you might want to rethink.
